San Diego, Beyond The Donuts

I brought my fancy pants camera on my trip fully intending to take photos, but I didn't take it out of the bag.  Not once.  I just used my iphone instead and although the quality of the photos may not be the same, it was so much more convenient.  And still did the trick! Is this happening to anyone else?  Is the camera phone just too easy and convenient to bother with the big camera when on the go? I'm very interested to hear everyone's thoughts on this. Hopefully capturing my adventure to San Diego didn't suffer because of my laziness.  I don't think it did, not too much anyway.
We did so much on our week in San Diego.  Besides eat donuts.  We visited La Jolla, ate fish tacos, Chris got tattooed, we went paddle boarding, and I had my first mexican mocha.  I loved it, I'm in.  I'm an official mexican mocha fan.

San Diego, Don't Let Me Go!

This trip to San Diego was hands down our favorite time there.  We try to get there every other year, but this year marked 3 years since we had been to visit. It was much needed.  After this incredibly long and cold winter (polar vortex, I hated you) I was really hurting for some time in the sunshine.  Vitamin D deficiencies are no joke! It happens, and it is no bueno. So, we packed up and headed for a week on the west coast. We spent time visiting family, friends, and donuts. Yes, donuts. We went on a donut tour and it was fantastic. Here are some donut tour photos.

The third one may not count as part of the donut tour. It was a mini donut at a frozen yogurt place. But I thought it really fit into the theme of the week. After all the donuts I have been quite committed to my insanity work outs.  I was starting to feel the effects of eating sweets every day.  But it was vacation, and it was worth it.  Leaving sunny CA for chilly CT was tough.  It was a great trip. More San Diego photos to come!

Packing For San Diego

Packing For San Diego

In just a few short weeks me and the husband will be taking off for San Diego. This is a trip I have been looking forward to for a while! It's still pretty cold in Connecticut, so visiting the sunshine on the west coast will be bliss. To get ready for the trip I started making some vacation outfits on Polyvore. This right here is the outfit I would buy from Madewell if I were to suddenly have some extra funds laying around. Instead, I'll have to use it for inspiration. I recently cut some boyfriend jeans that were not fitting me right into shorts, so I will definitely be packing those. Part of me just wants to start packing already, but that would be a bit too much, right? Having a suitcase half packed for a few weeks in my room?

I used that photo of Lily Collins because she is my new hair inspiration. It used to be Blake Lively, but I recently chopped all my hairs off into a short bob. I love it, it's very light and easy.  I just need to get used to styling it differently. I love how Lily has been styling her bob so I've been trying to emulate that. Has anyone else taken the plunge and done a new drastic hair style/cut? Who's your style icon? Tell me in the comments! I'd also love to hear about any fun upcoming vacations. That's the best part of winter, right? Planning for warmer weather adventures.

Modcloth Contest

Modcloth Contest

Modcloth contacted me and let me know about a contest they are holding that challenges bloggers to create an outfit with the Lead By Example dress and up to 7 Modcloth accessories on Polyvore. I have been on the hunt for dresses to wear to my internship and as soon I saw this dress and it looked perfect for a day at the office. I try to keep my accessories and style simple, clean and put together during my internship.  I want to have a balance and communicate "Hey, I got this. I'm confident. I can do this stuff and be cool" and not "I'm so confident I wear whatever I want. Look at me! Look at the intern! Give me a job!". I thought this outfit did a pretty good job of covering both bases. The cream flats look great with the navy, and the accessories are subtle but also add a little something. The phone case by Rifle Paper & Co. is just perfect.  When I envisioned that outfit with that phone case I thought it really said "That girl knows whats up", and thats what we are going for, people!

I don't know how it happened, but I never got on the Polyvore train. This is actually my first outfit put together on Polyvore. I don't think I quite understood Polyvore, but I sure get it now. You will be seeing many more outfits on here. It's really fun! Follow me here!

Bar Cart

Sugar and Chic

On the top of my birthday wishlist is a bar cart.  Whenever I see one online I 'ooo' and 'ahh' over it, so I decided why not get one.  Target has an adorable and inexpensive one that I think I will treat myself to. In the meantime I've been perusing the internet for inspiration as to how to style a bar cart. These are my favorites.
